Speaking with One Voice

The Northeast Pool & Spa Association is your voice on legislation and regulations impacting our industry. NESPA GRAC monitors legislative action across the region and represents the pool and spa industry when these important actions are being debated.

NESPA's Government Relations Action Committee (GRAC) brings together dedicated member volunteers and lobbyists on behalf of our members to oppose onerous over-regulation and advocate for our industry. We have important relationships with Federal, State and local officials and are in regular contact to share our industry’s perspective on legislation.

The Government Relations Action Committee consists of representatives from each of our four chapters.  If you have questions about legislation and government regulations contact NESPA at 609-689-9111.

Deadline Has Passed for Early Bird Tech & Business Passes; Show Education Sessions

Are Still the Industry’s Best Bargain!

The deadline for FREE tech passes for members and their employees and for early bird business session passes closed on November 15th, 2019. But educational programming at the Pool & Spa Show in Atlantic City, which runs from Sunday, January 26th through Thursday, January 31st, 2020, is still the industry’s best education bargain bar none. We advise, however, that you register for the show TODAY to ensure that you and your staff can attend the key programs that you need for the 2020 pool and spa season.

Right now, 4-day tech passes are $60 for members and $85 for non-members; and 4-day business passes are $195 for members and $250 for non-members. There are also individual 1-day passes available.

If you are bringing key members of your company to the show, you may be focused on upgrading their technical skills to keep up with all the innovations and technological advances in the industry. At the same time, however, it is critical to upgrade your company’s business skills as well. If you have people within your company handling the business side of the company who rarely come to the show, bring them along and help them upgrade their skills as well.

For example, workforce development is a huge issue for virtually everyone in the industry. Finding skilled workers or at least workers who can be trained and will stay on the job, is hard to come by in this white hot economy.

At the Pool & Spa Show in Atlantic City, there are courses to help you cut through the chatter and find the best people in your market to hire. On Monday, January 27, there will be a full-day program titled: “Employees: How to Improve Productivity, Performance & Retention,” featuring four of the industry's top experts in this area. On Tuesday, there is another important workforce session titled: “Detailed Overview of Employee Handbook & The Importance of Job Description.” Another workforce-related session on Tuesday is: “Effective Leadership Skills: From Managing to Disciplining Employees.” On Wednesday, attend: “Employment Issues for Contractors,” “Empowering Your Employees” and “Managing Substance Abuse in the Workplace.” On Thursday, go to: “Be An ‘Undercover Boss’: Clues to Create A Team of Super Heroes!”

For those spanish speaking employees you have hired and retained, it is critical to get them up to speed with the basics. For them, the show offers: SPANISH “Rookie to All-Star: The Fundamentals of Pool & Spa Service.”

There is more, much more, so checkout all of the Show’s business course here.
