Around the Region: Penn Jersey Chapter Launches ‘Women in the Industry’ Program

“Women in the Industry,” a group launched by the Penn Jersey Chapter, held its first meeting on Friday February 21st at Seasons’ 52, a restaurant in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, to discuss programming, both technical and business and to help support the women of the pool and spa industry, according to Sarah Garrahan, marketing coordinator, Blithe Sales Co., LLC and founder of the group.

“We launched the ‘women in the industry’ program,” she said. “At our first luncheon program in February, we got together to discuss what women in the industry are looking for, because many of us come from different sectors of the business, such as service, building, sales and manufacturing. We passed cards around to the people there and what most of us want is a women in management class.

“We are in a male-dominated industry and the whole goal of the program is to get together and compare notes. Some examples of the topics to be discussed are: what kind of software do you use, what chemical lines are working for you, who services your truck fleet, how do you handle marketing, who does your payroll and how do you keep seasonal employees. We will now plan more programs, such as the management class.”

Garrahan said that the programs are open to other women in the industry beyond the Penn Jersey Chapter. Please contact her at: sarah.garrahan@blithesales.com.
