The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (CT DEP) has issued a General Permit for the Discharge of Swimming Pool Wastewater. This General Permit regulates swimming pool wastewaters from both public and private residential pools. Any person who wishes to initiate, create, originate or maintain a discharge of swimming pool wastewater generated by a public pool must file a registration with the CT DEP. Additionally, any person in the business of cleaning, draining or maintaining multiple public or private residential pools shall file a Contractor Registration Form with the CT DEP and shall be licensed by the Department of Consumer Protection.
