NESPA’s Congress of Committees, that once-a-year-event when the key leaders of the association come together to evaluate the work of its various committees over the past year and to set goals for the coming year, met on October 23-24 at its Hamilton, New Jersey headquarters, said Taylor Griffith, Director of Membership for the association.
Griffith reported that 56 attendees representing all chapters in the region were in attendance. “Day one’s focus was to support new and incoming chapter board members while developing seasoned board members. Day two’s committee work was spent on the committee goals which directly support NESPA’s Strategic Plan. Each committee focused on workforce development, volunteerism, affiliations, consumer promotion and programs.”
NESPA initiated a food drive in conjunction with the meeting. Attendees donated over 575 nonperishable items for the Camp Out for Hunger Food Drive. The Penn Jersey Chapter won the Chapter Challenge for bringing the most items.
Director of Membership Griffith said that participation in the Committee of Congress is not limited to board members at the region or chapter level, but rather is open to all members who want to share their ideas to enhance the future of our great association and the industry.
