How long have you worked in the pool & spa industry?
About fifteen years. I had a unique experience growing up around the industry, as I would always accompany my father and grandparents to work in the office and job sites. I have spent almost every summer working there until I became full time.
What's one thing - either industry-related or not - you learned in the last month?
This rollercoaster of a month/year will certainly be one for the books. It has taught me that life can sometimes be fleeting, be there for the people I love, and be grateful for every moment.
How has being a part of NESPA impacted your career?
NESPA has shown me the importance of working together and forming relationships. These relationships have become a valuable source when I need assistance to overcome the unique obstacles of working in the northeast.
What was your first industry job?
Like most people in our industry, I started out in the retail store. I would stock shelves, answer phones, and listen to my grandfather teach each customer how to maintain their pool. Eventually, I learned to assist customers on my own.
What are the key skills or traits a person needs to be successful in our industry?
Some traits and skills that come to mind are patience, focus, and flexibility. In this business, it is essential to be nimble and adapt at a moment's notice. In high-stress environments, always remember to be kind.
Tell us about your favorite Pool & Spa Show memory?
One of my favorites was The Show Welcome Party at The Pool at Harrah's with my whole family. In 2012 my father was Show Chair, so watching him achieve his goals has inspired me so much. Most importantly, I treasured having my Grandpa there to see him achieve them as well!
When you aren't working, you are…?
Taking pictures, catching up on Netflix, or perhaps training at the gym. Pre-Covid, you would always catch me at a show seeing my favorite bands.
Who inspires you?
My family will always be my greatest inspiration and support system.
If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This one is so tough because everything she makes is my favorite! But if I had to pick, I live for my Nonna's famous eggplant and zucchini.
