What does Industry Advocacy mean for NESPA members? NESPA Volunteers are not just industry leaders, they are also industry advocates. We know that your business can be affected by outside forces which are often out of your control. economic trends, public policy, and even accidental drownings affect operating procedures, and public perception.
As part of NESPA, you are not alone in navigating these issues. You are also part of your local chapter and part of the national PHTA. We are not just reacting to events as they happen; but are proactively working on your behalf on a local, regional, and national level.
Your membership provides:
A team of professional lobbyists. With experts throughout the region, our lobbyists proactively meet with government officials to educate them on the best practices and safety standards in the swimming pool industry.
A staff team of industry professionals. The NESPA staff are a well-balanced mix of trade industry administrators, marketing and public relations specialists, membership development experts and more. Combined with your local Chapter and the national PHTA, your business has a built-in support staff
A team of influential volunteer leaders. Look at the credentials of our Chapter, NESPA and PHTA Board Members. From successful local pool companies to international manufacturers, our Boards of Directors and volunteers are recognized experts, influencers and philanthropists who have a wide-reaching network of contacts.
How can members help?
Network and volunteer. Seek out organizations and leadership positions where you can have an opportunity to be an ambassador for the pool industry. You will become an example of the professionalism we bring, become aware of issues that may affect our industry, expand your potential customer base, and do some good at the same time!
Bring issues and events to our attention. Your local Chapter or the NESPA staff is always just an email or phone call away. Has there been an unfortunate accident? We are ready to speak to the local media. Is your local government proposing an unfair regulation? We can work on your behalf on a variety of issues. We’ve already done hard work in creating media kits, marketing materials and decades of industry research into legislative issues.
Be patient. The wheels of the government turn slowly but surely. Likewise, grassroots community efforts such as water safety education often take years to develop. NESPA’s collective advocacy efforts are resulting in so much progress, and with your support we can only grow stronger!
