Rob Romano, David Cooke Plaster Co., South Windsor, Connecticut has won the coveted Paulette Pitrak “Above & Beyond” Award. It is NESPA’s highest volunteer recognition honoring members who have demonstrated an exceptional dedication to the association through their volunteer service.
To be considered for the Above & Beyond Volunteer Recognition Award, the nominee must be a NESPA member in good standing who has exhibited extraordinary volunteer work during the current year for either the Chapter or Region.
In presenting the award to Romano, George Kazdin, an earlier recipient of the award, said: “With nominations representing all four of NESPA’s Chapters, the selection process certainly was a challenge. Rob Romano stood out with significant contributions in defeating proposed regulations locally. In addition to these Chapter efforts, Rob has played a vital role in the NESPA Region by wearing many hats and having tremendous influence among peers. Rob’s individual interests are never put first, but always what is best for all members of NESPA.”
Romano worked very closely with Paulette Pitrak, NESPA’s late Deputy Executive Director, during his earlier years working with NESPA. “I cannot begin to say how much Paulette taught me; how much of a cheerleader she was on my behalf,” said Romano. “Winning this award for me is just awesome. I have won some plaques over the years that I have in my office. This award is front and center on my mantel at home.”
